Kocherts celebrate 60th anniversary

Nancy and Milton Kochert celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 12 as guests of honor at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, W.Va., with family and friends.

The couple have twins, Allison and husband Chris Long of Indianapolis, Ind., and son Mark Kochert of Columbus. They have four granddaughters, Katie and Kylie Kochert of Columbus, Stephanie Long of Indianapolis, and Suzanne Long Baker and husband Corey of San Antonio, Texas.

The former Nancy Montgomery Wellendorf and Milton R. Kochert exchanged marriage vows on June 12, 1954, at the Canfield Presbyterian Church with the reception held at the home of the bride.

Nancy graduated from Muskingum College and was an elementary teacher in the Canfield Local Schools from 1953 to 1986.

Milton graduated from Youngstown State University and Westminister College. He was a social studies teacher, department chairman, and basketball coach at both Austintown Local Schools and Poland Local Schools before retiring in 1986.

Milton is also a retired U.S. Naval Reserves captain, having served from 1953 to 1956 aboard the U.S.S. Coolbaugh DE 217 and as an English instructor, basketball coach, and track coach at the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School in Bainbridge, Md.
