July 31, 2014
The Town Crier

Farm to YOU is opening a mid-season share through Nov. 25. There are family, single and subsidized shares available. Grow Youngstown subsidizes shares for any person or family with income at or below 200percent of the federal poverty level. It accepts the Ohio Direction Card.

Youngstown State University also is partnering with Grow Youngstown to provide Wellness Program points through their Incentive Earning Campaign and the Fruit and Veggie Challenge to any qualifying faculty and staff who participate in Farm to YOU.

Based on the success of the Farm to YSU pilot run last spring in collaboration with the GY Student Organization, Grow Youngstown will open a pickup site on campus as of Aug. 26 and offer a corresponding 14-week share beginning on the same date.

Contact Carrie Clyde for Wellness Program information at 330-941 3360 and Gina DeCarlo for Farm to YOU details at 330-286-0688.

Farm to YOU, a community supported agriculture market run by Grow Youngstown, offers local residents the opportunity to purchase fresh, source identified local produce and food year-round.

Produce is sold as shares, and participants may pay upfront or in four installments. Individuals qualifying or subsidy may pay weekly.

Pickup locations include Fairgreen Neighborhood Garden (Northside), Poland Library, Austintown Library, YMCA Davis Branch, Warren Courthouse Square and Youngstown State University (Maag Library).

Grow Youngstown is a nonprofit organization that works to create a healthy, socially just, economically viable and inter-dependent local food system promoting the sustainable growth of food, forest, forage and fuel. It is dedicated to reducing carbon imprint, raising local agricultural skills and resources in Youngstown and neighboring communities.
