Howard and Virginia Hann of Austintown ,will celebrate 65 years of marriage on Sept. 7.
Howard and his wife, the former Virginia Paugh, were wed on Sept. 7, 1948 at Four Mile Run Christian Church in Austintown.
Howard was employed as the district foreman at East Ohio Gas Company, retiring March 31, 1986 after 41 years there. He has been a member of the New Middletown Farmers & Sportsmen Club since 1976. From 1946 to 1947, Howard served as field clerk for Army battalion headquarters at Ft. Lewis, Washington and Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.

Virginia, a registered dietitian, headed the Austintown Public Schools Lunch Program, serving seven schools in the district from 1961 to 1971. She designed the cafeteria for Fitch High School, which was being constructed at that time. She retired as a dietitian at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, on the same day Howard retired. During World War II, Virginia worked at the Lordstown Ordnance Depot, shipping tools to the Army overseas. Virginia has been a member of the 500 Bid Card Club for more than 60 years. The husbands also come to the club gatherings and play poker.
The Hanns are the parents of Donald (Paula) Hann of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Gerald (Cynthia) Hann of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; and Beverly (James) Suffolk of Kent. They have seven grandchildren: Bradley Hann, Jason Hann, Timothy Hann, David Hann, Philip Hann, James Suffolk, Rebecca Suffolk Somogye; and two great-grandchildren: Robert Somogye and Victoria Hann.
An anniversary celebration for December is being planned by their children.
