Boardman teams sweep Schafer tourney

The Chuck Schafer Scholarship Tournament raises money for the Chuck Schafer Scholarship, named for the architect who designed the Fields of Dreams and was committed to Little League baseball, which gives two $2,500 awards each year for Boardman Community Baseball and softball players to attend college.

Boardman’s 10-year-old, 11-year-old and 12-year-old all star teams each won their division in the Chuck Schafer Scholarship Tournament held at the Fields on Dreams, June 28 to 30. Team members include, for the 12-year-olds, Cameron Burford, Alex Cardona, Shay Eicher, Michael Fetsko, Jake Fonderlin, Travis Harvey, Cameron Kreps, Michael O’Horo, Griffin Schantz, Troy Waliszewski, Devin Whitaker and Nick Yallech, managed by Brian Fonderlin. Representing the 11-year-old all stars are: Rocco Beato, Carmen Cavalier, Andrew Clark, Tommy Fryda, Jimmy Goske, Egan Hare, Zach Johnson, Isaac Land, Justin Marrie, Connor Miller, John Murphy, Zach Ryan, and Che Trevena, managed by Chad Miller. Members of the winning 10-year-old all star team are: Ethan Andersen, CJ Cordon, Nathan Fleming, Ryan Henry, Patrick Hubert, John Hyde, Justin Jones, Michael Pastella, Aidan Slocum, Marco Stilliana, Jason Triveri, and Ty Ventresco, managed by Jason Triveri.
