Glenwood Middle School's girls track team topped Warren, 63-51 on Wednesday, April 17. At the meet, Logan Mitchell took first place and broke two school records, leaping 15 feet, 3 inches in long jump and cracking the record books at five feet in the high jump.
Other winners include Makayla D'Eramo who took first place in the 100-meter hurdles, along with Riley Zawrotuk, who placed second. Lexus Williams earned third in the 100-meter dash. In the 1600-meter run, Nadine Gabriel came in second and Savannah Beule took third. Gabriel and Beule were also second and third respectively in the 800-meter run. Zawrotuk took first in the 200-meter hurdles. The 4x400-meter relay team of Mitchell, Cassie Stitt, Gabriel and Casey Zaitzew earned first place.
In field events, Gloria Hynes, Danielle Maughan and Nicole Perez took the top three spots in shot put, while Maughan earned second and Hynes was third in discus. Isabella Jones earned third place in high jump.
The boys team suffered a 75-39 loss to Warren. Placing for the Spartans were: Nathaniel Ams, first, and Matt Maroni, third, in the 1600-meter run. Jose Rosado was third in the 400-meter dash. Nabbing the top three spots in the 800-meter run were, respectively, Ams, Maroni and Koby Fellows. Jake Kimble earned third in the 200-meter hurdles and Richard Fisher was third in the 200-meter dash. The relay team of Pierre Grizzard, Noah Falleti, Matt Hillard and Ethan Himes took the top spot in the 4x200.
On the field, Evan Walton earned second and Dante Davis was third in the shot put, while Evan Knaus was second and Davis third in the discus. Fisher earned second in the long jump and first place in high jump.
