The city of Canfield has set the dates for the 2013 brush pickup program. It begins April 22 and ends the week of May 13.
A different quadrant will be serviced each week. The week of April 22, the northeast quadrant will be picked up. This includes all city streets on the east side and east of North Broad Street (Ohio 46) and on the north side and north of East Main Street (U.S. 224).
Week two, during the April 29 week, will include the southeast quadrant. That includes the south side and south of East Main Street (U.S. 224), and the east side and streets east of South Broad Street (Ohio 46).
The week of May 6 will see the pickup in the Southwest quadrant. This will include streets south of Bradford Drive and the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center and west of South Broad Street (Ohio 46).
The final week, beginning May 13, the pickup will encompass the northwest quadrant. This one covers Bradford Drive and the MCCTC and city streets to the west of North Broad Street, including the north side of that street.
There will only be one pickup on each street so it is recommended to have the brush put out before the Monday of the week a resident's quadrant is being serviced.
"This is not a continuing program," said City Manager Joe Warino. "Once the city's contractor passes your house, they will not be back. Residents should have brush at the street by Sunday evening for pickup on Monday morning."
Warino asks that residents follow a few basic guidelines. He said the brush should be cut to lengths not to exceed 10 feet, branch diameters should not exceed three inches, and absolutely no roots of any kind will be accepted.
