Mother Nature kept the weather fitting as Cub Scout Packs from the communities of Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, and Poland gathered recently for the Whispering Pines Cub Scout Freeze-Out 2013.

Hosted by Boardman Boy Scout Troop 60, assisted by volunteer staff members, and held at Camp Stambaugh, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Cub Scouts from all of the Cub Scout Packs of the Whispering Pines District gathered for crafts, games and a fun-filled day of camaraderie and teamwork skill-building.

Split into a morning and an afternoon session, the event, held Saturday, Jan. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 2, had Cubs traveling to different stations as they hiked the Freeze Out Trail, participating in activities such as leatherworking, slingshots, and the Elephant March, Marble Chop Suey, and Spaghetti Race games.
