The Boardman High School Jazz program presented the BHS RockaPalooza on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Boardman Performing Arts Center. The RockaPalooza is an all ages showcase of local and regional bands comprised of mostly high school-aged musicians. For many of these students it was the first time they performed in a 1,600 seat venue with professional lighting and sound.
The bands sold tickets to the event with each ticket counting as a vote for their band; the band with the most votes wins first place. The grand prize consisted of gift cards from local music shops and a cash prize of $200. There were 10 bands participating at this year's RockaPalooza and "Colorblind" was crowned as the fan favorite.
The band 'Colorblind' won the grand prize as the fan favorite band at the BHS RockaPalooza. The band is, left to right, lead singer/guitarist senior Fletcher Dunham, senior drummer Michael Witte and bassist junior Nick Hura.
