Austintown Middle School teachers who received grants are Jolene Ross, Kari Knight, Michelle Porter, Ruth Murosko, Joy Noble, Stephanie Camardese and Michelle Best.
Other recipients include Trish Guenther and Mary Ellen Leskovec from Fitch High School, Heather Landgraver from Frank Ohl, and Kelley Mills an elementary counselor.

AMS teachers recently were awarded Austintown Alumni Association mini grants. Pictured is association Treasurer Shirley Smith as she presents checks to Jolene Ross, Kari Knight, Michelle Porter, Joy Noble, and Ruth Murosko. Not pictured, but also recipients of the mini grants were Stephanie Camardese and Michele Best.
Association President Patti Griffin said the grants were made possible through the group's fundraisers.
"We sell Wendell August Forge ornaments, have an annual raffle, and collect membership dues," Griffin said. "That gives us the funds for the mini grants."
The number of grants depends on the funds available and the number of applications, Griffin said.
"We look at the project and the intent," she said.
The mini-grants are geared to help provide materials and classroom support that is above what is normally supplied.
"With tight budgets, teachers are always looking for resources," Griffin said.
Besides the mini grants, the association also works with students. The final project for this year will be awarding scholarships to qualifying seniors.
Membership in the association is open to all Austintown Fitch graduates and friends of the Austintown Schools. Contact Patti Griffin at 330-793-4799 or by mail to AAA, 4560 Falcon
