Special to the Town Crier

Youngstown Christian School 2008 graduate Kara Cooper-Garland has signed her first contract as a professional soccer player with Karlsruher SC Professional Bundesliga 3 Sports Club in Karlsruhe, Germany. Her coach, Sorin Radu, will be on hand to witness the signing.

Since graduating high school, Kara earned four letters, including two at Youngstown State University and two at The University of Akron. After college, she played as an outside back for the Dayton Dutch Lions W-League.

Garland traveled to Germany this fall to try out for the Karlsruher team. She and her husband, Kevin Garland, will be moving to Karlsruher, Germany, next month to begin her professional soccer career.
