Canfield bands set to perform

The Canfield Middle and High School Bands will help usher in the holidays with music next week. The Canfield Middle School Bands' concert is set for Tuesday, Dec. 11. The fifth and sixth grade bands will perform beginning at 6 p.m. and the seventh and eighth grade bands will begin at 7:30 p.m. The Canfield Middle School Bands are under the direction of James Volenik, who is in his 28th year of teaching at Canfield. Megan Aubihl, a student teacher from the University of Akron, will be assisting. More than 390 students participate in the band program at Canfield Middle School.

On Thursday, Dec. 13, the Canfield High School Bands will present their annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. There are 172 students who participate in the high school bands and they are under the direction of Michael Kelly who is in his eighth year of teaching at Canfield.

There will be a Cookies and Cocoa reception following the seventh and eighth grade concert as well as the high school concert. Both the middle and high school band concerts will be held in the Canfield High School Auditorium and are free.
