CHS softball players heads to Queen of Diamond

Kara Rothbauer, a sophomore at Canfield High School, has recently been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North at Kent State University on Jan. 5 and 6, 2013. The QDSN, now in its 19th season, is part of the Queen of Diamond's Showcase events which are the largest fastpitch softball showcases of its kind in the United States.

This event continues to attract athletes from more than 20 states and two Canadian provinces. Its sister showcase, the Queen of Diamonds South, in its fifth season. Both events have more than 2,000 applicants in which more than 264 athletes are selected. Athletes actually apply to this event individually and are selected based on many criteria ranging from ability, potential, academics, graduation year, coaches requests and referrals.

Kara plays first base and catcher and also plays travel ball for the Penn Ohio Reign.
