At Monday's Boardman Board of Education meeting, honors abounded as winter teams begin closing out their season victoriously. Among those honored were the Glenwood girls basketball team and the recent five seniors who went to the state swimming championships.

The Glenwood Girls Eighth Grade Basketball Team had finished their season winning the AAC (All American Conference). Head Coach Vince Carnevale said the girls have had a good run and fought hard in the final game against Howland.

"They stayed so steady throughout the whole game," he said. "They won it 29-22."

Basista and DunLany combined with Will Linker, Jordan Stackpole, and River Flatley to make up the Boys Medley Relay and the Boys Freestyle Relay, which both qualified for state.

"The girls went 10-2 this year and finished fifth at sectional," said Head Swim Coach Carlo Cordon. "The Boys Team finished 12-0 and in combining the last three years, they have a record of 32-2. We like to win. We hate to lose, and we did it all without a home pool."

All swim team members got to parade in front of the school board members and get a congratulatory handshake.

Also honored at the meeting were the cast and crew from Peter and the Starcatcher, which ran at the Boardman Performing Arts Center from Feb. 6 through 9.

West Principal Al Cervello said the process has begun and notice will be out in September.
