After receiving a superior rating at Holy Family's School Science Fair, seventh grader Aidan Markey went on to the Districts Science Fair at Youngstown State University. At Districts, Aidan received another Superior rating which qualified him in to attend the State Science Day. The Ohio Academy of Science State Science Day was held on May 11 at the French Field House and St. John's Arena. This State event is in its 71st year. Aidan Markey chose in his project on Wind Turbines. His project was entitled, "Putting Wind to Work." He said he picked this topic due to his strong interest in engineering. He created his own wind turbine using objects such a recycled sports drink bottle, straws, marbles, and paper clips. In Columbus, Aidan competed with close to 1000 students from grades 5-12. During this event, Aidan again received a "Superior," the highest possible.

Holy Family Science teacher Mary Rossi traveled to Columbus to attend the State Science Day to support Aidan. She said, "Aidan's hard work and passion for science and engineering enabled him to earn a spot competing against the best of the best at the Ohio State University's State Science Fair! Once again scoring a Superior ranking."

Aidan enjoyed the entire process from the school science fair to the Ohio State Science Day.
