Mom’s Day special event Friday from Austintown Farmer’s Market

On Friday (May 3) the Austintown Farmer's Market will hold the first event of the season with its third Annual Mother's Day Market from 5 to 9 p.m. in and around Stacey Pavilion at Austintown Township Park.

"Not only is this a market to purchase plants, gifts, food items and other goodies, but it is also a great way for the community to come together with activities for all ages," said Market Manager Shannon Lehn.

Among some of the family fun stations and activities will be teacup planters, Mother's Day buffet sampling by the Manor, free cupcake decorating by Every Dog Matters, music by Cammi, free make and take kids' crafts by Simply Scarves and Such, tea sampling by Branch Street Coffee Roasters, free photos by Captured Grace Photography, and a dress up station by Diva Donations.

"Diva Donations has been a partner with the Austintown Farmers Market for a few years now but is not with us on a regular basis," Lehn said. "This [dress up] is something special for this Mothers' Day Market and will be next to the photo opportunity by Captured Grace, so that children may dress up and have their photos taken with their parents if they like. Diva Donations offers this with clothing and accessories for children to try on and create a character for themselves. It's just all about fun."

Lehn said she is expecting a large crowd because the community has been so supportive of making the Farmer's Market such a success. There is also a lot of local support for buying local grown foods and supporting local businesses.

"It's very exciting to be able to provide events like this for friends to gather and families to create memories," she said.

As for the regular Farmer's Market season, Lehn said that will kick off on June 10 with a Strawberry Festival and will continue with the market weekly until August 26.

"Then we will return to one special Friday night market a month until December," Lehn said. "We will be having an Apple Fest in September, Fall Fest and Costumed 5k in October, Christmas preview in November and last minute Christmas Market in December. I am still finalizing the season at this time and cannot definitively say how big it will be, but it will definitely be as large as previous years, featuring free yoga, healthy cooking demos and live music. Ballroom dance lessons will also be available this year."
