Hannah was unable to be reached for comment, but Colaluca said cheerleading has taught her a lot.

"Being a cheerleader and this year's captain, I have learned what it means to be a spokesperson for my school and community," she said. "What I cherish most of all is supporting my friends on the field and on the court."

Boardman High School senior cheerleaders Hannah Greene and Ava Colaluca earn All-American award honors at their cheer camp in July. This prestigious award includes an invitation to perform at the half-time show at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida on New Years Day.

Colaluca, in her sixth year, has been cheering since the seventh grade at BGMS. Like most of the girls on the team, Colaluca balances a busy schedule. She is involved in over ten clubs at the high school, is in some outside activities, and has to balance her academics to maintain top grades. Being a cheerleader and heavily involved in other activities has taught Colaluca a lot about time management. That includes summer break when the JV/Varsity cheer camps take place. At the recent camp, Colaluca and Greene impressed the right people and were selected for the trip to Florida based on how well they did.

"Girls are selected by outside choreographers by demonstrating exceptional talent in the material they learn at camp," Colaluca said. "This includes cheers, jumping, tumbling, cadences and a competition dance routine."

Both girls are excited about being selected for the trip to Florida. They are currently awaiting more details on the trip. In the meantime they will be attending a local event in the near future where all the area's All American nominees will be showcased.

For the future, Colaluca is looking at applying to The Ohio State University and University of Cincinnati. While her major is currently undecided, she has attended many recruitment clinics for the universities' collegiate dance teams and hopes to audition for them in the spring.
