Boardman grad brings ocean creatures to class

Ryan Marlin, Livestock Account Manager from Eye Catching Corals, was a guest speaker May 8 for Boardman High School's Oceanography class, as well as several biology classes. Marlin is a 2011 Graduate of Boardman and told students his passion for his job today, started there.

"Marlin taught our students about the biological aspects of corals, sea urchins, anemones, and clownfish and how it all relates to the ocean's water chemistry and the environment," said science teacher Amanda Rigby. " He brought it all with him, and the students were full of questions."

Eye Catching Corals is located in Vienna, Ohio and it is the leading supplier of a corals across the country. Marlin told students he now has the opportunity to work his dream job and his interest was first peaked when he was the President of "Underwater Spartans" at Center Middle School, and through classes like Oceanography at BHS. Marlin graduated from YSU in 2015, and also spoke about Eye Catching Corals as a business and how it relates to the economy.
