On Feb. 9 between 7 and 9 .m., the Canfield Presbyterian Church, 140 West Main St., will host an art show and entertainment venue for the public. Besides an array of finished art pieces, the church will continue the opening night event with musical entertainment as well.

"The musical performance was added in 2016 and is for listening pleasure while viewing the show and having refreshments during the opening ceremony," said Martha Dorrance, show chairperson. "We had various musicians from the community and Canfield High School, who give of their time and talent. As of this time there will be some returning musicians and new ones who have shown an interest. We would love to have special composed music for the show, but have not had any thus far."

The first art show at the church was back in 2014. There were 20 artists exhibiting and 44 entries.

In 2016, the second art show was held and featured 13 artists and 27 entries.

"At each show we had entries from all the categories of paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture/woodcarving," Dorrance said.

She said for this year's show, email information was sent to numerous art societies, schools, universities and artists with information on how to submit entries. Registration deadline is tomorrow (Jan. 26).

For those showing this year, there are some handsome rewards that include $100 for Best of Show, $25 for division winners, and $50 for the people's choice. Best of Show and division awards are juried. The winners will be announced at the Feb. 9 opening ceremony.

"For the last show and the upcoming show we have Zach Repphun, who is the Exhibitions Registrar at Butler Institute of American Art, as the juror," Dorrance said.

She also announced that some artwork will be tagged if it is for sale.
