BOARDMAN - The Boardman High School bands will host a spring concert 7 p.m. May 3 in the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

The concert will feature Boardman High School's symphonic band and wind ensemble.

Musical selections will include "Air for Band," "Where the Black Hawk Soars," "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Poet and Peasant Overture," "Movement for Rosa" and "Arabesque."

Also performing at the concert will be the band's second senior soloist for the school year, Emily Mook, on the flute. She will be accompanied by the wind ensemble's performance of "Concertino" by Cecile Chaminade.

Mook is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Mook. She has been playing the flute for eight years under the instruction of Shery Larson. She has been a member of the Boardman Spartan Marching Band and the BHS Wind Ensemble for four years and a member of the orchestra for two years.

At OMEA Solo and Ensemble events, Mook earned superior ratings. In addition to being an outstanding musician, she also is a member of the Spartan Sweethearts.

Donations of $3 for adults and $2 for students will be accepted at the door. Senior citizens will be admitted free of charge.

The Boardman bands are under the direction of Thomas M. Ruggieri, Timothy P. Tuite and Michael J. Shevock.
