Lock up a memory at the fair

August 28, 2014
The Town Crier

The Canfield Fair's fine arts staff is introducing a new community art project to replace the Faces of the Fair photo montage.

The Big Lock is a 13 x 13 wire rooster built by Lawless Industries Ltd. and AES manufacturing companies. It was donated to the fair by Shawn Lawless in memory of his dad, Dave.

Based on the world-wide phenomenon, Love Locks, the Big Lock will be an ever-evolving sculpture with a permanent place in front of the Fine Arts Building (#2, near the state Route 46 walk in gate).

Lincoln and Rebecca Bavuso hang their locks on the giant rooster frame that will be a permanent art sculpture at the Canfield Fairás Fine Arts Building.

Everyone is encouraged to take a lock to the fair and hang it somewhere on the rooster. People can paint or decorate their locks beforehand with pictures, names, dates, designs, etc., to make them more personal, and then lock up their place in fair history.
