The Mahoning Valley Burger Review Board presents the Mahoning Valley Battle of the Burgers Saturday and Sunday at the Warren Community Amphitheater. A portion of the proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

On Saturday, the gates open at 5 p.m. with the River Rock at the Amp concert featuring Thunderstruck and Mr. Speed. Tickets to River Rock at the Amp are $7. The burger judging starts at 6 p.m.

Special guests Tommy Christmas and the crew of Fat N' Furious: Rolling Thunder, a television show on the Discovery Channel, will take part in the event by serving as burger judges.

Sunday is Family Day, so admission for adults is $2, teens are $1 and children 12 and under are free. For more information on this great community event, please visit

The Mahoning Valley Burger Review Board has existed for five big, savory, deliciously juicy years and are now in a position to turn a group of guys' fun night out into a fun weekend festival celebrating the valley's locally owned restaurants and taverns.

''We're all about local, and Second Harvest feeds thousands of families right here in the Mahoning Valley, which is why we have selected them as our charity,'' said Jerry Tranovich, member of MVBRB. ''For the Battle of the Burgers, 10 local restaurants, including all five of our Burger of the Year award winners, will battle it out in four different categories and will be judged by local celebrities. Before the weekend is through, we will know without a doubt who has the best burgers.''

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley, a member of Feeding America, distributes food to 153 hunger relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

These organizations include church pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens, shelters for battered women and after-school programs.

In 2013, Second Harvest Food Bank was awarded the AIB Food Safety Certification for the handling, storage and distribution of dry goods, canned goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and frozen meats.
