The Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council will hold its first annual Freedom Warrior Golf Outing Aug. 22 at all three of the Avalon Golf and Country Club golf courses, including Avalon Lakes, Squaw Creek and Avalon at Buhl.
The YARBCC's goal is to raise $250,000 that will be used to help wounded soldiers and disabled veterans from Mahoning, Trumbull and Shenango counties.
In addition, a portion of the proceed will assist in providing educational scholarships to families of the employees of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.
In order to meet this goal, the YARBCC is asking for sponsorships from local businesses and individuals.
Ron Klingle, owner of Avalon Golf and Country Club, has generously donated all three courses and his staff to help with this event. This means 100 percent of the registration fees will go directly to provide assistance to the soldiers from the community who sacrificed their lives. In addition, the YARBCC has established the YARBCC Charitable Fund, a 501 C (3), so all donations are tax deductible.
