Deadline for entry registration forms and any entry fees for the 2014 Canfield Fair is Aug. 10. To be eligible to participate in the fine art competition or display an item in the domestic arts and crafts building proper entry registration must be made.
The Aug. 10 deadline also includes entrants in the amateur wine making competition. The only exceptions to this deadline are dress-a-pumpkin, scarecrows, vegetables, junior gardens and general agriculture, which is Aug. 20.
On Aug. 27, enter the trail mix contest using your favorite trail mix recipe. This year's one-day special event ''Stir 'Em Up,'' sponsored by Giant Eagle, will be on Aug. 29. Our silver spoon recipe this year is basketweave cinnamon-sugar cookies. We have added a special junior baking contest for the Irene Houk Memorial Award. The recipe for this will be orange drop cookies.
All articles for display at the fair are to be brought to the designated buildings on the fairgrounds during entry days. These dates and times are printed in the official premium lists of the Mahoning County Agricultural Society, which lists all the rules and regulations governing the Canfield Fair, as well as the domestic arts and crafts book, the fine arts book and the floral brochure, which lists the rules and regulations for their respective departments.
Entry registration forms and fees must be submitted to the Canfield Fair Administration Office on the fairgrounds or mailed to P.O. Box 250, Canfield, OH 44406 - by Aug. 10 or 20 deadline. Also, many of the categories in the premium book and fine arts entries may be entered online at www.canfieldfair.com.
