The U17-18 Rockers FC boys team recently won the US Club 2014 Ohio State Cup Championship at Lost Nations Sports Complex in a 3-0 victory over Cleveland Select. The win avenges an earlier loss to Select and means the team moved on to Chicago from June 27-30 to play in the Midwest Regional National Cup Tournament. The team competed in the Super G bracket and was expected to field opponents from Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Iowa.
This championship follows other team accomplishments this year including two finalists appearances at the Spring Fling Kick-Off in Hudson in May and Cleveland Indoor Classic in March.
The surrounding communities should be proud of their athletes, and the Rockers staff hopes to bring pride to the soccer community with a respectable and good showing while competing for a regional title. Anthony Sabula, an all-district player from Poland, along with many other all-district players are on the team.
