In Girl Scouts, young women discover fun, friendship and the power of girls together. The CEO of Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, Jane Christyson, visited Canfield Village Middle School on June 4 to talk with sixth grade girls in Troop 80420 about their 'Take Action Plan.'
Their 'Take Action Plan' was an anti-bullying project. The students did research on the effects of being bullied and on those acting as bullies.
Following a presentation given to each sixth-grade classroom, the Scouts created a pledge for all the students to sign and remember. Those students who agreed to sign the pledge were given a gold star to write a message on and sign.
The pledge is on display in the sixth grade area. The gold stars will be kept by the principal to use if a bully problem arises.
Troop 80420 is in the final stages of their 'Take Action Plan,' and the CEO visited to speak to the girls about their project.
Pictured next to the wall of pledges are Canfield Girl Scouts Andreanna Tocicki, Holly Eberly, principal Mara Banfield, Andrea Klempay, Abby Palmer, Hannah Edwards and Katie Dysert.
