A new plaque will be hung in the main hall at Canfield High School soon. It will join similar plaques dating back to 1968 that feature each year's outstanding seniors.
CHS guidance counselor Rebecca Heikkinen said it is an honor that doesn't get enough press. Each name on each plaque is a senior who has stood out in a specific subject area.
''The teachers have to select one outstanding senior from their department,'' she said. ''Some base their decision on attitude and participation, while other teachers look at academic achievement.''
