The Canfield Committee of the Friends of Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County planned a June 21 book sale and their participation in Canfield's Fourth of July Celebration when they met on May 14.
A Friends book sale benefiting the new Canfield library will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21 on the lawn of the Library, 43 W. Main St.
Due to storage space limitations, the only time donated books will be accepted from the public is during the book sale's set-up from 8 to 9 a.m. the morning of the sale. Only gently used, quality books are recommended; no textbooks, outdated technical or medical books nor encyclopedias will be accepted. Proceeds from the book sale are used by the nonprofit Friends group to benefit the new Canfield library.
The Friends also plan to march in the Canfield Fourth of July Parade and host a booth on the Green. Information will be distributed to promote membership in the Friends, library programs and the library's upcoming levy.
The group also discussed hosting a table at the Market on the Green on September 20 and helping to staff the public library's booth on Green Street at the Canfield Fair. The meeting ended with a brief look at how the library will provide services at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm during construction of the new library.
The Friends Committee in Canfield advocates for the PLYMC and supports library programs and services in the Canfield community. They are a committee of the Friends of PLYMC, a countywide nonprofit organization.
