Boardman car buff loves cruising in style

Retirement is all about spending time doing what one enjoys most in life. For Rick Beraduce of Boardman, that means cruising the strip. Although he is only semi-retired, he manages to get in five cruises a week in his vintage 1985 Corvette Coupe.

Beraduce is not new to Corvettes. Twenty years ago, he owned a 1969 Corvette while he was still working at R.G. Steel in Warren. Four years ago, he was at the car auction on Western Reserve Road and ended up with the successful bid for the 1985 Corvette Coupe.

The Coupe was pretty much ready to run when Beraduce bought it. It has a 350 cubic inch power plant with dual point injection and an automatic transmission. He said he only had one repair to make on it.

Rick Beraduce of Boardman enjoys being semi-retired and cruising five days a week in his vintage 1985 Corvette Coupe.

''I had to replace the digital dash once,'' he said. ''Other than that, I haven't had to do anything to it.''

He said the 1985 handles are almost the same as his old 1969. That meant it was ripe for cruising and car shows, which he takes advantage of almost daily.

''I cruise Lowellville on Monday, Austintown Senior Center on Tuesday, the Fireplace on Thursday, and Quaker Steak and Lube in Austintown on Friday and Sunday,'' Beraduce said.
