Hillbrook Apartments next to the Austintown Schools campus between Idaho and Raccoon roads will be going to the dogs this summer when they host a big event to help Angels for Animals.
According to Hillbrook leasing consultant Jeremiah Davis, it seemed to be a good match. Hillbrook is a pet friendly complex that allows dogs and cats. The complex has 408 units which all permit cats and specific buildings which accept dogs. The complex even has its own dog park where four-legged residents can run free.
''We always try to do things for our residents and because we are pet-friendly,'' Davis said. ''Helping Angels for Animals seemed a good fit.''

Crystal Thomas enjoys a romp with her boy friend's dogs, a pug named Rudy and a husky named Gizmo, as Hillbrook Apartmentsá leasing consultant Jeremiah Davis drops by the complex's dog park to say hello. The complex is pet friendly for dog and cat lovers, which is part of why it will be hosting the first benefit block party to raise funds for Angels for Animals.
The main office parking lot and grounds will be turned into a large block party from noon to 5 p.m. June 7. All Hillbrook residents and the public are invited to attend. Davis said there will be a D.J., food vendors, a 50-50 raffle and a Chinese auction with proceeds benefiting Angels for Animals.
''We approached area businesses for the Chinese auction and the result was overwhelming,'' Davis said. ''A lot of local businesses have really got behind us in this event and gave us stuff for the auction.''
He said Angels for Animals will have representatives at the event as well. They will be bringing dogs and cats that are up for adoption.
''It will give our residents as well as the public a chance to adopt a dog or cat and help give them a good home,'' Davis said.
He said the event should bring in a good amount for the charity and the plan is to make it an annual event.
