The Poland Seminary High School Athletic Department hosted a college tennis signing for senior Garrett Gardner last week. Gardner will be continuing his tennis career for the Valparaiso University Crusaders this fall.
Gardener's passion for tennis began at age 7. He was carrying on a family tradition since his mother, Joanne, is an avid tennis player who was on the Ursuline High School team and is an inductee into the Ursuline Hall of Fame for tennis. She is currently the coach for the boys and girls tennis team at Boardman High School.
Gardener went on to win the sectionals in the past two years and in 2013 won districts and qualified for state. He was named player of the year in 2013.
