The Youngstown Foundation has awarded The Ursuline Center's Motherhouse Pool Ministry: New Roof Project a grant of $20,000. The Ursuline Center is the educational facility operated by the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown.

''We are honored that this esteemed organization recognizes the importance of our project to people in the greater Youngstown area, and we are very grateful to the foundation's board members for their generosity and support,'' said Sister Nancy Dawson, general superior of the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown. ''Our Motherhouse Pool is a ministry utilized seven days each week by more than 800 people from diverse populations across the Mahoning Valley. The Motherhouse Pool Ministry: New Roof Project is one of two phases of renovation at the pool to be performed this year. It is a more than $66,000 undertaking in which the 20-year old, 6,000-square-foot roof and 50-year old skylights will be replaced. Construction will begin in June.

Under the Motherhouse Pool Ministry: New Heating Project phase, the entire HVAC system will be replaced at a cost of approximately $115,000. Donations are being accepted for both phases of renovation.
