Teacher moonlights a traveling coach

Jody Bartlett, a teacher at AIS and a volleyball coach for AMS spends her free time coaching a travel volleyball team called Thunder Volleyball Club.

The team is made up of students from grades fifth through 10th from Austintown schools.

Additional coaches include Candy Kekic, junior varsity volleyball coach; Alyssa Lanzo, freshmen volleyball coach; and Savannah Taylor, middle school volleyball coach.

The team practices at Youngstown State University each Sunday from October through May. Tournament play begins in March and the team competes in six tournaments in Cleveland, Pennsylvania, Geneva and the Mount Union College area.
