The Celebrate Poland committee is stepping up efforts this month as the 2014 event nears. There are still some needs to be met with the hope of an even bigger event this year.
''Right now we are looking for all kinds of volunteers, both to join the organization and help at the event,'' said committee vice president and township trustee Bob Lidle.
This year's event will take place on June 27-28. Lidle said some new things have been added this year, including a 70s-80s cover band on June 27. The D.J. will return on June 28 with the popular karaoke.
''Two years ago we brought in karaoke and had a long line of people waiting for their turn at the mic,'' Lidle said. ''We actually had to turn people away because it was so popular and we ran out of time.''
Although not set in stone, Lidle said there is a chance the event will have a miniature golf course set up this year. The course is a portable one that can easily be set up and bring a new level of family fun to the event.
Returning venues include the parade and fireworks, a Civil War encampment, the Rich Center's touch a truck, Poland Idol and the sidewalk chalk art contest.
Lidle said anyone wanting to volunteer their time or talent can contact Greg Morrison at 330-727-8755. The committee is also looking for advertisers for the program guide that helps fund the event. For information on the guide, contact Tricia Perry at 330-727-9717.
