Library Friends set annual goals

April 29, 2014
The Town Crier

The Canfield Library Committee of the Friends of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley met March 24 and set their goals for 2014.

In light of two major events expected in 2014, a library levy on the ballot in November and the groundbreaking ceremony to start construction of the new library, the new goals were designed to better inform city and township residents of the levy and the groundbreaking.

The goals include holding a used book sale; participating in the Fourth of July Parade, hosting a table on the Green following the Parade; and helping to man the library booths at the Canfield Fair. Hosting a table at the Market on the Village Green later in the fall is also under consideration.

Friends of the Library provide support to the library through sponsorship of children's activities, fundraising, informing the public and advocacy of library issues.

The next meeting of the Canfield Library Friends Committee will be 6:30 p.m. May 14 at the library. New members are welcome. For more information contact Deborah Liptak, Library's Development Director, at dliptak@libraryvisit.org or 330-740-6086.
