Students learn to fly for Disney classic

On April 4, 5 and 6 the Boardman Drama Guild will perform their spring production of Tarzan, a Disney classic, at the Boardman Performing Arts Center.

With a little help from Las Vegas, the Drama Guild is learning how to fly students with the assistance of Flying by Foy based in Las Vegas.

''They [Flying by Foy] installed all of the equipment and are teaching us how to use it,'' said Anne Bott, drama guilt director. ''We chose Tarzan for the spring production because it will be a nice contrast to the opera performed in the winter.''

The role of Tarzan will be performed by Jared Vanasdale and Jane will be performed by Sarah Demetruk. Tickets are available on the Boardman Drama Guild website, boardmandramaguilt.com.

Band compete at District Contest

On March 15, the Boardman High School Wind Ensemble and the BHS Symphonic Band competed at the District Band Contest held at South Range High School. The Wind Ensemble earned a superior rating in Class AA and the Symphonic Band earned an Excellent rating in Class C.

''This is definitely a good sign because there is a lot of freshmen in the wind ensemble, so the future of the band looks good,'' said Nick DiGiacomo, a freshmen in the Wind Ensemble.
