In 2006 the Boardman Orchestra Program decided to expand its offerings by creating a new type of ensemble modeled after the Trans-Syberian Orchestra. As a result, staff and students have created a Rock Orchestra, which the students named Project Mayhem.
Project Mayhem will take the stage at 7 p.m. Friday at the Boardman Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. Ticket sales begin at 6 p.m. and doors open at 6:30.
''This really is a great show for the whole family and definitely a Friday evening well spent,'' said stadium drive teacher Gina Hammerton.
Performing for the eighth year, the concert includes smoke machines, a laser show and the high-energy movement of a rock concert. Project Mayhem will be performing rock n' roll classics from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as well as popular songs including "Roar" by Katy Perry, "Too Close" by Alex Clare, "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons, and "What Makes You Beautiful" by One Direction. They also will be performing classics that include "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi, "Carry on my Wayward Son" by Kansas, "Separate Ways" by Journey, and more. Student vocalists also will be featured.
Lightwave International from Pittsburgh will create a laser show throughout the concert.
