Phantoms to host free hockey program

February 27, 2014
The Town Crier

The Youngstown Phantoms will take part in USA Hockey's nationwide Try Hockey for Free Day.

The event, a free hockey clinic hosted by Phantoms players and coaches, will be conducted at 12:15 p.m. March 1 at the Ice Zone in Boardman.

''We're very excited to give local kids an opportunity to try playing hockey,'' said Phantoms assistant coach Brad Patterson. ''Hopefully, the end result will be many more youth players in the years ahead, as well as a lifelong love of this great sport.''

An initiative of USA Hockey, Try Hockey for Free Day is part of Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM. 400 local programs across the nation will allow kids ages four to nine to visit a rink and try hockey for free. The Ice Zone will have a limited amount of equipment available for use.

To register for the program, visit tryhockeyforfree.com.

For information, contact the Ice Zone at 330-965-1423.
