Sixteen information technology students from the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center earned a spot at the Business Professionals of America state competition after competing at the regional level. The students will attend the state competition March 13 and 14 in Columbus.
Students competed in various categories at the regional competition, including website design, entrepreneurship, network administration and prepared speech. The regional awards were handed out during a banquet on Feb. 4 at MCCTC's Joyce E. Brooks Conference Center.
The MCCTC BPA team is led by information technology instructors Steve Bennett and Helen Slack. Students advancing to the state competition are: Nathaniel Bair of Austintown, Sean Beatty of Austintown, Brett Bessell of Lowellville, Andrew Blose of Struthers, Dallas Braund of South Range, Sam Buzas of Poland, Justin Campanelli of South Range, Pamela Dailey of Western Reserve, Gabrielle Doran of Western Reserve, Thomas Hassay of Austintown, Austin Houchen of Jackson Milton, Hannah Michalak of South Range, Anthony Neville of Poland, Brandon Pelar of Boardman, Tyler Staton of Jackson Milton, and Nicholas Yambar of Boardman.
