On Feb. 4, nine fourth grade students from Dobbins elementary, including three alternates, attended the Math 24 Competition held at Youngstown State University. The students representing Dobbins were Wyatt Bobbey, Gabriella Calderon, George Corfias, Julia Eich, Joey Iberis, Katie Jacobson, Connor Maze, Ethan McKenzie and Julia Ranno.

All nine students were able to participate in the competition with eight students moving on to Regionals. They will be part of the top 16 representing Mahoning County against Trumbull County. That competition is to be held Feb. 25 at Warren G. Harding High School.

The students have been meeting after school from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. to practice for this event. Elaine Morlan holds the practices for students who also practice at home to up their skills.
