Nominations are being sought for the annual Canfield Business Pride Award, created 10 years ago to honor businesses located within the township or city limits that exemplify ethical, moral and professional standards in their workplace and have visibly contributed to local economic development.
Companies are evaluated on business ethics and professionalism, longevity and probability for growth, community outreach, physical plant, investment and commitment to Canfield and respectability as an employer.
Past recipients include Peaberry's Cafe and Bakery, Scarsella Furniture, Edward Jones Investments Financial Advisor/Property Owner Byron Abrigg, Multimedia Farms, Mahoning County Agricultural Society/Canfield Fair, Naffah Hospitality, Inc., Schrodel, Scullin and Bestic, Harley Davidson and Farmers National Bank.
The nomination form can be found in the Member Resources/Events section at regionalchamber.com.
The Council also will present its fourth Spirit of Canfield Award in 2014. This award is given to an individual and focuses on his/her overall contributions to the city and township, rather than exclusively on business contributions.
The criteria for this award include community involvement, involvement in the Canfield Schools and business accomplishments/promotion of business. The name of the Spirit honoree will be revealed at the breakfast event. Past recipients include former mayor Bill Kay, Jim Duncan and Mark Scheel.
