Indoor track season opens Saturday

The Boardman High School indoor track teams began practice Jan. 6 in preparation for Saturday's season opener at Kent State University. The season will continue Mar. 8 and the following weekend a possible trip to the nationals in New York City.

The season schedule is as follows:

Jan. 18: Kent State University.

Jan. 25: Youngstown State University

Feb. 9: Mount Union or YSU.

Feb. 15: YSU.

Feb. 22:Kent State University.

Mar. 1: Arnold Classic in Columbus (varsity team only)

Mar. 2: Kent State University.

Mar. 8 : Indoor State Championships, University of Akron.

Mar. 14 to16: Indoor Nationals, Armory in New York City.

Coaches for the BHJS indoor boys and girls track program include Denise Gorski-head girls coach, John Phillips Jr.-head boys coach, John Phillips Sr.-assistant jump coach. Rick Sypert-assistant sprint coach, John Pallini-Assistant boys throwing coach, Dayna Daltorio-assistant girls throwing coach, John DePietro-assistant hurdle coach, Stacey Hunter-assistant girls distance coach, George Mavrikis-assistance pole vault coach and Whitney Resch-assistant girls sprint and distance coach. Coaches Daltorio and DePietro, currently coaching middle school basketball, will join the team when that season is completed.
