Special to the Town Crier
Students in the Key Club at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center donated their time and talents to make blankets for Making Kids Count.
The students held a candy bar sale and raised $500 to buy all of the supplies to make the blankets.
MCCTC Key Club members Alyssa Thomas of Western Reserve and Kristen Wade of Canfield put the finishing touches on a blanket that will help keep a child warm this winter.
Armed with their fleece, a group of 18 students got together at the school to make the fleece blankets. The students created 31 blankets for infants and toddlers to be donated to the organization.
The blankets will be included in comfort kits that children receive from the organization when entering the foster care system through Mahoning County Children Services.
The club members and project organizers said they plant to continue to work with the organization and hope to make more blankets.
Key Club at MCCTC advisors are instructors Alissa Kolar and Anthony Cycyk.
