Senior captains Nick Crescimanno and TJ Sakkas led the Canfield Cardinals (1-0) to a come-from-behind 8-3 win over Aurora (0-2) on opening night of the hockey season for Canfield.
Down 2-0 near the end of the first period, Crescimanno took a feed from freshman Anthony Clendenin, at center ice and skated his way past a Greenmen defender to get the Cards rolling with seven seconds left.
Canfield would add seven more unanswered goals with four in the second period and three in the third.
Sakkas and Crescimanno netted three goals apiece and Junior Danny Drotleff added two. Clendenin picked up four assists from the back end of the Cards defense, Noah Guerrieri and Zoie Amatore added two helpers each and Collin Fishel picked up an assist.
Mitchell Blasko, stopped 12 of 15 shots in the net for Canfield.
The Cards will host West Geauga at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Ice Zone in Boardman, in a Greater Cleveland High School Hockey Blue East league opener.
