Third baseman to play in Dayton

Cardinal Mooney baseball coach Al Franschelli stood close as Cardinals third baseman Drew Beck signed a NCAA National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Dayton. Beck, a three-year letterman for the Cardinals, has a lifetime batting average of .417, a slugging average of .650. and an on-base percentage of .522. He is the son of Mark and Sally Beck of Canfield, who are seated with their son. In his career at Mooney, Beck received an honorable mention in the 2013 Pre-season Underclassman All American Team for a perfect game, was honored for a 2012 prefect game at the Junior National Games in the Metrodome in Minneapolis, was part of the 2012 Under Armour Midwest Futures Games at the University of Illinois, and was a 2013 East Coast Pro Games invitee.
