Kayla Troxil, a sophomore at Canfield High School, has been selected to compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase South at Winthrop University, Rock Hill, S.C., from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1.
Last spring, Troxil was a pitcher, catcher and utility player for the Canfield High School Lady Cardinals. As a teammate of the 2013 Junior League Ohio District 2/Junior League Ohio State/Junior League Central Region Championship team, Troxil just returned from Kirkland, Wash., as a pitcher in the 2013 Junior League Softball World Series where her team came in third place.
Troxil will continue as a pitcher with the Thunder Elite 16U Fastpitch softball travel team for the 2014 season.
The QDSS, in its seventh season, is part of the Queen of Diamond's Showcase events which are the largest fastpitch softball showcases of their kind in the United States. QDSS continues to attract athletes from more than 30 states and two Canadian provinces. The application process is based on ability, potential, academics, graduation year and referrals.
