Dear Boardman and visitors,
In my neighborhood we have a creek called North Creek. It is a protected waterway under the rules established by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Flash flood issues are being addressed by the county and the township.
As much as I dislike the word, this is a process, and not all always agree as to the most beneficial courses of action.
Installation of new measures to increase water flow and prevent flooding slows the surface flow of the water. Drink containers and other waste is accumulating near the engineered fix.
People in two townships are involved and our citizens are organized to address such issues. Our township seems to be on the right course, acting without a knee jerk in the wrong direction sometimes takes time and study.
We need people to stop the littering. Waste thrown in a parking lot drains off into the creek. There is no "safe" place to litter.
Think, and take your empties to a public recycling point, don't toss them where they end up in our watershed.
