Boardman High School graduates Matt Albani and Devoun Fletcher took to social media Sunday, July 28 to encourage friends to meet at the school to share memories of Daniel Watkins.
"Devoun and I also figured being alone isn't the best for people right now, and it would be nice to see some familiar faces for a hug and support," said Albani, a 2011 graduate, in his Facebook post inviting friends to gather at 10 p.m. to celebrate a life cut short.
Watkins, 19, a 2012 graduate of BHS and a student at Ohio University, was found shot in the driveway of a Loveland Road home on Youngstown's South side, late Thursday night. He died early Friday morning, July 26, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Police currently have no suspects in the shooting.

Friends, family and fellow classmates gathered at Boardman High School on Sunday night to celebrate the life of Daniel Watkins. The 2012 BHS graduate was killed in Youngstown last weekend.
Watkins' family, along with about 250 students and friends, gathered on the front steps of the high school to share memories of a young man with a stellar smile who excelled on the high school baseball diamond and played travel ball for the Mahoning Valley Venom. Watkins also played basketball for the Spartans and enjoyed music.
Watkins is survived by his parents, John and Alice Watkins, as well as brothers John Jr. and Robert. The funeral is set for today at Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church.
