Crissie McCree, a Poland native, has won the 2013 Carolina Music Award for Rock Female.

McCree is a 1996 graduate of Poland Seminary High School who also earned two bachelor's degrees from Youngstown State University, in geography and elementary education. She moved to Fayetteville, N.C., in 2008 to pursue a teaching career.

After four years in the profession, she decided it was time to make a change, take a leap of faith, and follow her true passion: music. She moved to Wilmington, N.C., and continued to work on making the dream a reality.
