If all goes well with the weather, the Dog Park at Boardman Park will be open within a month. Only one construction item remains on the list at this point, according to Township Administrator Jason Loree.
"We are waiting on the water fountains," Loree said. "Once they are installed we are planning a soft opening."
He said the final install will be drinking fountains to supply water for the dogs. The hold up at this point has been the weather. Loree said to build the fountains requires setting concrete and allowing it to cure.
"It has not been a good summer for this type of work," he said. "Concrete crews are presently backed up because of the excessive rain."
He said the soft opening will happen as soon as the water fountains are operational. A grand opening is planned for October.
Loree said that once complete, it will be a $100,000 project. Other finishing touches will include some landscape plantings, but that won't stop it from being used. He said once it is up and running, the membership fees will be used to maintain it and keep it going.
