4th of July festivities

Town Crier

Austintown

Celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3 at Township Park with entertainment, cornhole, concessions and more; fireworks at 10 p.m. Flag raising at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4 at the Township Log Cabin, followed by the parade at 2 p.m. from the corner of Raccoon and Kirk Roads to Falcon Drive

Youngstown Symphonic Band plays at 8 p.m. with fireworks to follow at Boardman Park.

Canfield

A Kids Race and the Firecracker Four Mile Run begin registration at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4 at Township Hall. Race starts at 8:15 a.m. for kids ages 12 and under and at 8:30 a.m. for all other runners. JD Eicher and the Goodnights perform at 8:45 a.m.; kids bicycle parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the fairgrounds; parade begins at fairgrounds and travels to Village Green beginning at 10:10 a.m., follwed by a performance by the Youngstown Symphonic Band at 1 p.m. at the gazebo.

Columbiana

A Fishing Contest starts at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 4 at the Duck Pond for ages three to 12, followed by a pet contest at 11 a.m. at the west end of the football field. Sidewalk chalk art contest runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the sidewalk from the football stadium to the pool. A canoe race at the Duck Pond runs 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with family games and activities from 1 to 3 p.m. o n the east end of the football field. An ice cream eating contest starts at 3 p.m. for ages three to 12; with a watermelon eating contest set for 3:30 p.m. for ages six to adult. Calliope performs from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the gazebo; a tribute to veterans starts at 8:10 p.m. with a flag ceremony at 8:20 on the football field; fireworks start at 10 p.m.

Howland

4th of July festivities begin with a 5K race at 8 a.m., followed by a parade, pet parade and family fun until 3 p.m. Visit www.HowlandTownship.org for details or call 330-856-2340.

Newton Falls

The parade starts at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4 beginning at the First Church of God, with fireworks at 10 p.m.

Niles

Fireworks start at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4 in downtown Niles.

Struthers

The parade starts at noon Thursday, July 4 beginning and ending at the the Struthers Fifth Street Plaza.

Warren

W.D. Packard Band concert starts at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 4 at Packard Music Hall south lawn band shell, followed by fireworks at 10 p.m.

Youngstown

Fireworks will be held at dark on Thursday, July 4 from behind the Covelli Center. No parking at the Covelli Center.
